Fellow bikers,

Simon Pavey is heading to Thailand in December to teach one of his world-famous Off Road Skills courses.

This is a unique opportunity that might not come around again soon (it took 2 years to find time on his calendar!) so, if you are close by, have a bike that fits the bill, head on over to his site http://www.offroadskills.com/off-road-skills-in-thailand and see if you can make it.

We already have 1 riding up from KL and 1 flying from Oz to join in, but before you ask, renting larger bikes is hard here. You might have to settle for a 250 MX bike.

The guy that taught these two - could be teaching you!

Cheers!

I was about to re-post this after reading it in your other post --I'm sure it will provoke a lot of interest being such a unique opportunity.

Don't miss out --a one off

Where exactly will this be held?
Couldnt find the Info, but maybe Im getting blind.

"The date for the two day course is the 2nd and 3rd of December 2011".

But where.....?

I guess only Buddha knows :lol3 cause I can not find it on their web site either.

Sure would be a great opportunity for some training from a real professional but don't think I could part with the 17,200 Baht for someone to say "Not like that...Like this", especially when you have to provide your own bike even though hotel is provided.

The event is in Suan Pung, Ratchaburi. Details while go on Pavey's site this week, if I don't get flooded out...

You can expect more support from Simon than 'do it like this'...

I wouldnt mind the price at all, but unfortunately its too close for a return from a job that im scheduled to go on and its always delayed. So unfortunately I cant commit, however much I would love to.

Damn, just the weekend I am going into Laos...guess I have to go to Wales anyhow...

Needless to say, it was a blast. One guy flew up from Oz, but two from Malaysia failed to show even after paying the deposit...

You can see vids of the event as listed below:

No news about SP teaching this year or early next - I will try and get his schedule locked down so we can get the message out to a wider audience.

Ride safe.

Simon

That's a lot of money to spend on an introductory course.

I've gotta think that beginners would be better off using the 17k to buy a 125 and ride around in the dirt for a few months to learn balance, controlling a slide, etc.

Was it worth it?

Having a instructor beats self learning every time.

I did the BMW Off Road Skills course about 12 years ago, when I was in the Army, with our BMW trained army instructors and it was invaluable for me. Still crashed a lot, when I was alone, but shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't had quality instruction from the beginning.

The price isn't that bad, a 3-day diving live aboard cruise to Similan Islands are more expensive than this course and you get to spend it with like minded individuals.
In my view it would be money well spent for a beginner, instead of trying everything alone and having to fork out money for repairs and maybe avoiding injuries.
