The great thing about the Huen Kuang GH is it's 50m meters from Rider's Corner, Nan / Tonys Place ..... 5pm and bikes already arriving

Marcusb, mike and a few others already there swapping stories

We'd called ahead (always advisable, for something really special) & Tony had made us a pork roast fit for a king, 2 other people walked in afterwards and wanted the same!!

As the night wore on all the bikes in the region stopped by as usual for a good feed, these guys were from Phitsanaluk

Som helping out, trying to feed 23 people at the same time!!

Day 2 - the Santisuk / Bo Klua loop, one of the best road rides you can do in Thailand, its your own personal race track, you really can't beat the Nan region for riding fantastic roads without traffic

R 1169 ... then R 1081 eastwards is amazing riding, for a change we tried R 1257 eastwards towards Bo Klua

Mate, that looks very strange to me, never had that kind of fling off with my MTS and the MTS has similar one sided swing arm setup, what type / brand of chain lube your using?
For years using Motul C5 Chain Paste / Motul C4 Chain Lube Factory Line in China and Oz on various bikes and no problems at all with excess fling off.
My MTS is parked up on paddock stands and sparkling clean so taking pics of the rear wheel / sprocket / chain doesn't make any sense right now.

On another note, seeing quite a few new bikes like your Duc-HM being ridden without any rego plates, care to explain as I am curious.

Wat taking shape on R 1081 SW of Bo Klua

R 1081 has to be one of the best roads in Thailand for sure. There's still a few 100 meters of resurfacing going on but not a problem at all

To get to the 1251 from the 120-1 intersection i take a little detour-shortcut through a very sleepy back block rural area to avoid Phayao.

Being one of the coldest days in decades, people still wrapped up

Its a real special place, rooms are 1,850 Bht high season

Great views of the Bo Klua Riverside Resort below & the Nam Mae Mang river

Warning: Their specialty is the chicken, be careful ordering, its not what you might expect, not much meat on it

The salt water from the ancient deep well is heated by a wood fire. Once the liquid has all evaporated away, the salt residue is left behind

Eastbound from Bo Klua on the fantastic R 1256, there's still a couple of road work sections on that road too

But there's a 1000 times more good points about R 1256 still

From there a quick blast south down R 1080 and you're at the delicious R 1148

R 1148 - A magical road & it takes you straight to Nan

See how you do with this..

I get almost no fling but it does collect dirt / grime to the chain and want a good scrubbing before reapplying.

I found the one your using flys off, even on slower dirtbike speeds.

Decision time on R 1148, where to spend the night? We knew from Bo Klua it was approx. 200km to Phu Chi Fa, a perfect afternoon ride

Gave the Phu (Fa) Sawan GH a shot in Phu Chi Fa, be careful there's 2 Phu Sawan resorts 550 meters apart on the opposite sides of the road! Rack rate high season is 1,500 Bht ... co-ords:

One of the coldest nights in Thailand for decades & Sexy Pancake wasn't going to get cold, fully clothed, gloves 'n all ready for sleeping

Next morning the market pickup with fresh produce arrives in Phu Chi Fa around 0800am

Day 3 - Phu Chi Fa to Chaing Mai, roughly 350km , the decent of the beautiful R 1093 westwards

This is one fun road to ride down

Still early in the day, time for a quick Kodak moment at Wat Rong Khun just south of Chiang Rai on R1

Popped into the Chiang Rai raceway to see the owner Jerawut, he's just bought himself a Ducati Diavel

Not including the land cost, Jeravut told me he's spent 10 million Bht so far on the track, he says it's a real passion for him

The track record still stands at 48 seconds, 2 bikes with the same time, one is a Kawasaki ZX10R, surprising with such a short track that a bike so big would currently hold the record

He tells me drag racing over 150 meters coming very soon

There's 2 distinct sections to be aware of on R 1150, one is on a blind bend headed westwards that could catch you out with sand all across the road
