Post appreciation

We have a facility available to us that we are not using.

When i set the vbulletin forum up, i chose to turn off the ability to "like" a post. This is not the same as the Facebook "like button", it's a simple counter that can allow you to show appreciation for a post without having to post a comment just to say basically the same thing.

I first thought it might be seen as naff and a bit wimpy for the regulars here but when i saw a few trip reports coming through, similar to Phils China one, where the thread draws one liners inbetween the daily updates of the report, i wondered if this "like" option might serve a purpose.

So for the first time on this forum, i would like to start a poll and hopefully ascertain if we need this "like" facility or not.

The thing is it also has a negative right ?? Like a rep count..

I saw this cause TOTAL fucking chaos on another forum.. People got all pathetic about who had better 'reps' and there were non stop bitchfests with stuff like "who just neg'ed me" "whats worth negging about that" so then people would wind them up and neg them over nothing.. Cliques formed.. Groups negged other groups.. People got banned..

In the end the system got turned off a couple of weeks afterwards and to be honest, made some people I knew in real life look pretty damn foolish to me. Giving way too much of a damn about some silly clicker.

So while the whole thing sounds like a positive on the surface.. It can have implications

Of course maybe its totally different but that was a VB reputation system or similar.
