Dear All
I'm a member of the group of chaps who call ourselves the 'Nambusters' and as some of you may be aware, we have posted one or two ride reports in the Vietnam section in the past.
We have used Flamingo Travel in Hanoi for all our trips and have always used their guide 'Pinky' who is something of a legend to those who have travelled around the country with him (this is a considerable number of people to date).
Unfortunately, earlier this year Pinky had an accident whilst leading us on tour, he had a head on collision with a truck and sustained very serious injuries from which he still suffers today. The main injury is to his left arm, he has no motor control of this arm and no feeling and of course this means he is unable to work. However, a few weeks ago we learnt that a good neuro-surgeon who is visiting Hanoi has predicted a good prognosis if he can operate on the nerves in the arm and this operation is to take place sometime in October.
Of course the operation will cost money, £4,000 in fact (at current exchange rates), it's a lot, but we want to try and appeal to all of Pinky's (and Flamingo Travels) past customers to try and raise something towards it.
Below is a link to a fundraising page (already set up by another of Pinky's customers) it's quick and easy to donate. Remember, however big or small your donation, it will make a difference if enough of us contribute.
The post detailing the accident is in the Vietnam rides section under the thread 'Nambusters 3 -Trip Report' Post number 2, the last set of paragraphs at the bottom of the post.
Cheers and thanks for reading.
Phil
