Nishas Restaurant Indian Food - A very nice selection and a clean and tidy place. They also serve vegetarian food. The prices are very good and the servings a nice size.

Bamboozle! - A new place, opened for 1 year and serves a mix of western and Laos food. They do not do lunch, breakfast from 6.30-10.30am then open again at 3.30pm until late with live music Tuesday and Friday.

The food and service is great and quite reasonably priced. The best breakfast in this town yet.

Simmaly Restaurant

Two doors to the right of Crater's Restaurant. Clean, great tasting Asian food. All the pilots eat here which is a good recommendation.

Yep, good and inexpensive food and it has become extremely popular.
However; WARNING re Simmaly.

Keep a careful note of what you order and the total cost of it.
On the two most recent occasions I dined there the bill was very much in their favour!
Corrected with a smile of course.

Probably have the attitude, ' OK, we're popular now, so we can be greedy too. '

Another Nisha Indian thumbs up

Matt & Mr Sneds just gave the Nisha a huge thumbs up:

'If this place was in Chiang Mai it would make a fortune"

Have to agree Both the Bamboozle and the Nisha make Phonsavan worthy of at least a two night stop over and the breakfast in the BB is terrific, the owner is from the Shetlands of all places .

It seems to have become a great place to make a base for exploring for sure with decent food available.

Re: Phonsavan

Great place for breakfast is the Lao & Falang Restaurant - only about 100 metres from Cranky T's... coming out of her place, turn left, walk 75 - 100 metres, turn left into side road and there it is - about 30 metres along on the left. Couple of Italians and their Lao friends.

Nice meal in Nisha. Opened at 17:30. Food cooked fresh to order. Good portions and taste. No meat on the menu, only chicken and fish.

Back again. Still the best Indian food I've eaten in Laos. Noticed that the prices are more expensive than other restaurants I've eaten in on this trip.

Had a few snacks at Cranky-T. Good food and a nice atmosphere. They are now open for breakfast as well and have a few tables outside so you can watch the world go by while enjoying a few cold drinks. Unfortunately they are not always open as the owner/cook is often out of town which the restaurant closed.
