Off-Road from Huay Xai to Mueng Nguen
Tough life in Laos
This is the dirt road route we took from Huay Xai to Pakbeng - 146km

5 of us did a quick trip into Laos, 3 on motorcycles, 2 in pick-ups.
Here crossing on the Ferry from Chiang Khong, Thailand into Huay Xai, Laos. Make sure you have your blank TM2 Thai vehicle forms with you or you'll have to get them from the main immigration office in Huay Xai town, they don't have them at the ferry ramp immigration office.
The Laos town of Huay Xai on the far side of the Mekong
This time stayed at the Oudomphone 2 Hotel, 80,000 kip for a fan room high season, not so bad
Decent rooms for the money'
Then dinner at the Riverside Houysay Hotel & Restaurant'
Food & company was excellent
Great views of Chiang Khong Thailand from the restaurant across the Mekong river
