New road, south west coast of Lombok.

A beautiful new road has been laid in SW Lombok. It runs from nowhere to nowhere basically and I am totally amazed that it has been done. It runs from Mekaki Beach to Slodong, a hamlet about 30 km away. Before this it was only possible to reach Mekaki by motorcycle over a very challenging steep up and down track - very narrow and treacherous in places. The area was heavily overgrown so you only got to see the coast a couple of times but the views were worth it.
Now, except for the last 5 km before Slodong, the road is new tarmac. The views are magnificent but the challenge has disappeared. I'm glad I got to travel the old track three times over the years. Photos following.

Look forward to it Colin. We expect to be back early April and leave again in September. Got a couple of mates coming over in July. They want to head east for a couple of weeks. How about you? Feel like heading over again? Keep in touch.

Looks like that's not working. From Kuta you head west. Marwun, Mawi, Selong Belanak, Pengantap, Buwun Mas, Mekaki.
