I burst one of the passes on my Multistrada's radiator on a trip around the MHS loop a while ago. Ducati sells these for $1,200 !!! I tried in vain to get it repaired, it was only a pin hole but no-one would repair it as it was aluminium.
Liam managed to find a shop who could make a replica for a fraction of the cost. It turned up today and i am gobsmacked at the result. See photo below you wouldn't know the difference. The replica is fabricated from copper which makes it a wee bit more heavier. It will be easier to repair now too if it goes tits up.
Apparently it was an old lady who made it - I wish I had a granny like that...

It was Liam who went round all the shops including the one you mention - no-one would touch it.
 
Ton fixed my totally bent ktm radiator (also alu) for free. It looks as good as new and took him about 10minutes.
This is the after picture (I then decided to put radiator guards :) )

Also fixed my WR's radiators after they got pierced, but not sure they are alu.
 
Mr Gwan welded some brackets onto my KDX aluminium radiator to hold a fan.

Still looks like a good job and handy info.
 
I had a radiator gsurd on from Touratek, more for show than anything else. The radiator had no damage, my guess was a part failure, expensive one at that. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to fit the guard you provided the link for, thanks. I'm always s little wary if these things reducing airflow.

just out of interest have you changed the gearing on your bike???

Mate, its quite hot and humid over here as well and have not seen any problems with airflow / cooling since I fired up the Ducati the first time in early November 2011.
The Altrider, Cox Racing and Evotech Performance cooler guards work the best with a MTS1200 in my personal opinion.

Just cleared a shipment of bike parts and tyres via airfreight and got two Supersprox kits for the 2012 MTS 1200S (530 pitch / 15T front and 42T rear sprocket / XW-Ring Chain Gold) but that will most probably my winter project during the 24000k belt-service.
Got a set of Altrider crash-bars as well as the Ducati OEM ones are quite heavy and will install most probably the Altrider Waterpump guard I got as a present a while ago.

That's an unbelievable price as well as looking the part. Theres plenty of hours work involved making that for sure. Excellent find Johnny.
 
Radiator mounted perfect. Fans located perfect. Tested up to 105C - fans operated as per spec and no leaks.
