The explosion of location software, with the aim of pushing vicinity, commercial locations in front of your face is out of control. This has given rise to some amazing, free, mapping software available free on the back of this.

An app for Windows 8 that I stumbled upon is "Better Maps". It's hard to find from Google Play Store in a browser, but easy to find from the Google Play Store app.

What makes this mapping software so useful is that it will open & display Bing Maps, Google Maps, Nokia Here Maps, Yandex Maps, Open Street Source Maps & Yahoo Maps all in one application.

Just hit the button at the bottom and you choose which map provider's map you want to view, all in one place.

Here's a screen shot of each of the different map providers showing the Golden Triangle/ Mae Sai border area

Bing Maps - good detail & easy to read

Google Maps - You have to zoom more than Bing Maps to get the road detail
