The Route 108, 3005

Total Distance 189 km

Heading south on a side track this is a shot of the mountains and a bit of the concrete 3005

South of Pha Yoe I take a left to start exploring the dirt tracks that I didnt have time for yesterday.
The dirt starts at N17.59.064 E098.08.316 and fuel is sold here at the turning from a hand pump

Back up on the main road and looking back at the village I have just visited
DSCF5487.jpg

I take a left to fully explore the dirt track I started on yesterday that had a village at its end
DSCF5488.jpg

DSCF5489.jpg

That landslip I can see from here is where they were concreting a short section yesterday
DSCF5490.jpg

I am nearing the village

DSCF5495.jpg

Heading further west and on a very short concrete section
DSCF5496.jpg

The fire that nearly choked me yesterday now looks completely burnt out
DSCF5497.jpg

About 1 km before Ban Huai Wok its a left to explore the last track that I should have tried yesterday

Virtually everything out there has been slashed and dried ready to be burnt, thankfully none of it went up while I was out here today

DSCF5507.jpg

Obviously it wasnt burnt well enough as this person is busy igniting whats left
DSCF5509.jpg

DSCF5510.jpg

I ride through the village and just past it the track is gated, theres no point in riding through as these tracks lead nowhere or so I am told when asking.
There was no exciting discovery of a track carrying on westwards and linking up with the 105
DSCF5511.jpg

DSCF5512.jpg

I ride back through the village then head back towards Pha Yoe taking a right before reaching there

DSCF5515.jpg

DSCF5516.jpg

This starts off as concrete and is very steep then it turns to dirt at N18.00.332 E098.09.394
DSCF5517.jpg

DSCF5518.jpg

I take a left to ride down to a small village
DSCF5519.jpg

Then ride back taking the other track to a larger village

DSCF5525.jpg

The end of the road and time to ride back
DSCF5526.jpg

Riding back and I carry on riding towards Kong Koi on an unknown road
DSCF5527.jpg

At N18.02.465 E098.09.926 I take a left onto a dirt track that will lead me back to the 3005
DSCF5528.jpg

DSCF5529.jpg

DSCF5530.jpg

Looking down towards the village there appears to be a concreted section ahead.
In fact there were two exceptionally short sections of concrete that arent worth mentioning and its a pretty much rutted dirt track for its entire length
DSCF5531.jpg

DSCF5532.jpg

DSCF5533.jpg

DSCF5534.jpg

DSCF5535.jpg

The very last bit before reaching the 3005 was probably its best bit
DSCF5537.jpg

DSCF5538.jpg

Along the ride back taking a short cut off the 3005 I take a right which is a concrete track that goes for about 1 km to a village
DSCF5539.jpg

The dirt goes on but I am told it goes nowhere and as I have rode right around where it would come out without seeing it I believe them.
This wraps up all of the 3005 apart from a couple of short side tracks on the way back
DSCF5540.jpg

On the way back and a couple of fires that werent burning this morning
DSCF5541.jpg

There is fuel available from a hand pump at N18.06.210 E098.09.230 and here I do a right to ride around a village
DSCF5542.jpg

I get back to the 3005 and go straight across to ride to another village
DSCF5543.jpg

DSCF5546.jpg

There were a lot of people filling containers up with water from here
DSCF5550.jpg

Back in Mae Sariang and as its sunday a small walking street today

You are out there ! Capturing those scenes of real life Thailand.

Thank you so much for the painstaking documentary you create every day Colin.

You are an artist.

Thank you for the compliments Ally.

Yes I am really enjoying these trips out into the non touristy real Thailand and while I did the occasional trip like this on the Phantom its much easier on the KLX day in day out

Theres so much out here Phil

I was having a beer with Lone Rider last night, he says you've given him a lot of homework! Great mapping data collection work in the past season Colin.

It looks like we'll finalize the data for the Nan map now.

Glad I am keeping Auke busy Phil, I should be back out in Nan by the end of next week to do a few more tracks that Auke doesnt have the data for yet, if you can wait till then

We'll wait until you're done with Nan then put the Nan province map together -- should be quite interesting.
