Casino resorts are normally good value for money as they hope to make up the profit on the gambling end, this one is no exception. Done in a golden, Spanish villa style, you might think you've woken up in Vegas

Rooms are spectacularly salacious - Gold, Greek moldings everywhere

Currently a special promotion, rooms 2,000 Bht incl breakfast, sounds expensive, but i was in a suite ( with a tour company contract discount rate, was cheaper)

Rule to eat by - Always try eat what the locals eat (don't try to order a beef steak you're guaranteed to be disappointed) - Pork is the thing to order and it was damn good

Menu is reasonably priced (divide by 250 for Thai Bht) , dishes are 150-450 Bht

Phil, evolution for sure and not quite the same since I first stayed in Ban Houei Sai fall 1966, or later lived there, Sept '69-June '70. Might have troubles navigating around the town, sure did on my last visit in 2008.Mac

Mac, the actual town might die as the bridge traffic is so far away to the south. People might just head for Luang Namtha?
