Myself and Steve Francis (first time in Laos for him) embarked on a long awaited trip to Laos and explore some new areas and reacquaint myself with some others. To get the ball rolling i thought it would be a good initiation for Steve to do the little travelled rear road to Sayabouri from Hongsa, it had rain solidly the day before as we rode from our meeting spot in Phayao to cross at Huay Kon, after some last minute modifications to our exhausts at the crossing point we spent the night in Hongsa and hoped we would be rewarded with sunshine in the morning.
Total 152km.

The turn off for the trail is just on the edge of town near the nice new PTT and Amazon Coffee, one on dirt time to drop air from the tyres.
