Just got a generic mail from Flickr they are now giving you 1TB free on your account yippee :jump

I don't seem to be able to use the code from Flickr with RA, I find I have to open the photo in full, right click and copy address to use with RA. Am I doing something wrong?

Above image was inserted using the tree icon with the 'retieve' option ticked

Second image above was inserted using the tree icon without the tick in the box

8751627331_e4f4ed3b65_z.jpg

I then went advanced editor mode & used the paper clip to insert the 3rd image

(top right of the blue pop up , click website, reveal a url field or 2 or 3 as desired & paste the same url into that box)

All using this url

What is the problem Alex?

The above image is from flickr using the bbcode snippet available if you select the correct options.

Please see the image below.

Personally I wouldn't want to see the inane link below every image so I would need to edit the bbcode snippet each time to remove the following part of the code in red

[ url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/96293100@N04/8809871381/][ IMG]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7291/8809871381_1e2fe6386e.jpg[/IMG ][/url ]

The segment of all of that crap you really need is just this

[ IMG]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7291/8809871381_1e2fe6386e.jpg[/IMG ]

The other part merely takes the clicker of your image back to your flickr account. Do you want that?

Ally

ps - I have purposely put spaces in the [ IMG & [ url= brakets to stop them causing the image to appear for this example

Hi Alex

If you paste 3 code in like that and have no spaces between them, your images will wrap.

If you either put your cursor AFTER an image and hit the return key on your keypad, you will cause it to give a line break.

Alternatively hit the A/A icon (top left) and see the code. Put a line space in yourself where desired.

thnx, I'm useless at code
I do hit return, was just trying your 3 different methods

Damn it work without using the insert function- sorted:jump

Hi Johnny

If you venture south just a fraction more you will see the correct location

You seem to be just grabbing the link

You actually need to select grab the html / bbcode as you can see below & take that snippet.

Thanks Ally, I actually got it to work with the bbcode without realising it in my previous post. I think the important factor here that I failed to understand was you don't need to use the insert photo function on the forum.

Now I've got it. A wee bit of a pain having to snip some of it out but much better than the previous way I was doing it.

apart from the quotes, what's wrong with the above URL? I can't get it to insert with the insert photo function (grabbed direct from Flickr)

Take a look here at my demo
Screen Shot 2013-05-25 at 12.19.26.jpg

My set link code is this

http: //www.flickr.com/photos/96293100@N04/sets/72157633671238970/

But I only need the last string of numbers 72157633671238970

And then I put the [flickr tags around that number

[ flickr]72157633671238970[ /flickr]

That is not a set Johnny. In Flickr, you need to create the set first then grab the set reference code

Ally

Ally- was just trying a different way to insert a single photo by grabbing the HTML link from Flickr, but it doesn't seem to work using the insert photo function and I can't figure out why. Is there some part of the link above that needs to be removed before it will work?
Bbcode is clear now....

Johnny, the issue is that what you are calling anHTML link from flickr is in fact just a url link to that location. It is not an image link.

An image link needs to end in something like .jpg, .png, .gif etc.

If I click your image when I am in flickr to get this page

Screen Shot 2013-05-25 at 13.00.40.jpg

And then click the the size I want & i can get to this page
Screen Shot 2013-05-25 at 12.57.09.jpg

If I right click on an image there, I can get the following which you can insert into rideasia using the tree icon or paper clip option.

Ah ok, the way you have described is the way I have been doing it, long winded. So grab the URL is just that and can't be used to insert a photo into a forum. Thanks
