NE up R 118 a right turn onto R 3005 takes you through a beautiful rural area and so close to the big smoke

Took an easterly detour of R 3005, to see if the double track had been paved

With the hypermotard's stiff suspension, it wasn't much fun, so when the dirt started it was time to turn back, didn't make the loop on the rhs of the map above

Without a gps, discovering the road number might be troublesome

Pretty clear day and some interesting views over the Chae Son National Park

All part of the Wat Mae Takhrai complex, seems to be big and quite important for the area

The Wat Mae Takhrai complex is well worth a visit, with it's "story telling" sculptures

I really like that bit out past mae on, it is really special.. I looked at a few land plots that way but felt that 40 mins to maybe an hour out of the city was too much for me..

I think that the 1253 out to chae son is easily as much fun as the pai rd, yet you can do hours without seeing traffic and no threat of being run off the rd by silver van man.. Theres a good day loop doing the 1317 1252 1157 and back on either the 11 or better back up the 2031..

Further south, kept seeing this white bridge to the left with no road leading to it, a bit strange?

11961147853_ae698b3b24_b.jpg

It turned out to be a railway bridge we explained no road

Looks like your still enjoying the bike Phil, interesting looking bridge almost looks like an upmarket version of the river Kwai bridge.

It looks like they have been busy asphalting some of the dirt surface since I last rode there

Did a ride out to Wat Mae Takhrai again with some Thai people, they say this statue ( the darker one) tell the story of liars - you end up with a small mouth, missed this the 1st time there.

Jesus, i;ve not seen that one before, this aerial stuff is a mindblowing new dimension to enjoying these venues

Nice one Phil. I like the East side of the valley for just the same reasons as Livin'. That Wat is a crazy as the one in Phayao, deffo on the list for the coming season.
