Border roads NE to Mai Sae
If you're headed up to Mai Sai and the golden triangle consider trying this route if the roads are dry (quite steep in some areas especially if you are in dirt trim)
From Tha Ton NE:
R 1089
Left turn onto R 1234
Left turn onto R 3051
Right turn onto R 1334
Left onto R 1149
Fantastic roads, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ID WITH YOU FOR THE MILITARY CHECKPOINTS
There are some fantastic views on the border road from the Thai Military look out over Myanmar
