Bikes over 250cc are illegal in Laos

From the Expat Laos FB Page:

Thursday Vientiane Times reports all bikes over 250cc are illegal and books number plates copies and also illegal. Last week they confiscated 30 bikes.

So if you've got a big Lao registered one in Laos maybe best not to use it for a while or certainly avoid the P.

Interesting! Especially as I read elsewhere that they have begun/recommenced limiting bikes crossing into Laos at Nong Kai to minimum of 250cc. It seems the only bikes they want in Laos are Lao registered up to 250cc and Foreign registered over 250cc! (????) Can anybody else comment? I was planning to take my Malaysian registered FZ150i into Laos again this year but this now looks doubtful.
