Distance about 24 km by walking

At 5.30 am this morning I was walking the deserted streets of Mae Sot to go for an early breakfast

As I get closer to my destination I see other people

Chicken curry with two rotis

Plus a freshly cooked hot donut, 65 Baht the lot

After another coffee in my room I set off towards the border.
The plan was to walk for a while to see the changes taking place in town like the airport entrance here, plus there are numerous buildings going up all over the place

Lovely carpets being sold roadside

Food cooking along the way

I was happily walking along when I could see the Immigration buildings not so far ahead and I got to them a lot quicker then I expected

I left my passport with Immigration and went for a walk around Myawaddy

I guess these are a couple of locally made Honda Wave copies, Feiling and Shayan are not makes that spring to mind.
If they are of Chinese manufacture it might be better if they corrected the spelling to Failing

I noticed that Baht was in both the buyers and sellers hand

I was chatting with some Westerners who were getting this bus to Yangon

I ventured down this narrow soi and was well rewarded

Happy smiling people everywhere

Perhaps the lad was smiling because he was planning on shooting me with something

Now its looking even more interesting with that wooden bridge

Its doubtful the dog will find anything in there

Now the path does get narrow

I was wondering what this water was used for

Then this girl provided the answer when she got a bucketful out do do her washing with

Now back on the traffic laden paved road with the constant beeping of horns

I quickly find another soi to disappear down

The water is a long way down

Another short stretch of paved

Then another soi

That old boat had some holes in the bottom

These people were so friendly with some asking if I was alright when they saw my arm in plaster

A small side gate let me into here

I didnt realise that Myanmar had a tourist police too

Broken glass on top of the wall, interesting insignia in the wall

I wonder if these two were landmine victims

The bricks here felt pretty much the same as UK size, 215/100/65 mm

At this point I am back at the border and I was offered to go across by boat.
I tried to explain that I would then be an illegal immigrant in Thailand as my passport would still be in Myanmar and I wouldnt have a visa

I certainly dont want to get too close to those things

This lot playing cards were a bit shy, perhaps gambling is frowned on here too

I saw lots of kids with ice creams but try as I might I couldnt find where to get one from

This pig walked right up to me when usually they dont get that close

He has got a lot more stones to bring in to get that wall up

A very clean motorbike

Another soi

This bridge was a bit rickety but I have ridden my bike over worse ones in Thailand

Thats a long foundation with lots of lorry loads of bricks scattered along it, perhaps I could get a job here

Its been a really pleasant fun day here today

Finally I make a big mistake

About twelve years ago here I ate a Burmese pork curry and it was oily and salty and I said never again.
This chicken dish was even more disgusting and the flavour stayed with me all afternoon.
Even in Mae Sot at a Burmese restaurant I thought the food was not very nice, perhaps the food to the west of the country closer to India would be more to my taste.
I then get my visa and enjoy the walk back home

Street style pork for tonights meal 200 Baht and thankfully Randeep's delicious meal has finally erased the taste of that crap I ate in Myawaddy
