Youtube code correction to display on RideAsia.net

There's been some confusion as to what format the Youtube video code should been in when uploaded to RideAsia.net

The code to copy and paste into the URL field in the Youtube uploader, should be the same format as below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN-10_WMIJQ

& not in the format shown below here:

http://youtu.be/HN-10_WMIJQ

To be completely correct, both codes work, you just need the correct upload icon.
The black one in the icon set above the post editor
bbvideo.gif

has a list of video sources, vimeo, youtube, youtu.be, etc etc

This video is displayed using the youtu.be option.
Code:
[VIDEO]http://youtu.be/HN-10_WMIJQ[/VIDEO]
[VIDEO]http://youtu.be/HN-10_WMIJQ[/VIDEO]

This video on the otherhand is shown using the standard youtube icon
youtube.gif

Code:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN-10_WMIJQ [/youtube]

As its becoming the norm for widescreen on the 'tube... Is there a way to reformat the plug ins display width ??

Hi LOS

Yes there certainly is. However, a few issues first ;)

In the first shot above, which uses the standard youtube icon
youtube.gif
in the post editor, there is no choice of dimensions but there is in the second one which uses the
bbvideo.gif

So if there is an original video that is available at a size greater than the default setting, then this may be adjusted by the person inserting their video in their post.

But that leads to the second issue. Is there a video at a size available which is of a standard size? Looking on youtube at harrythefin's video of the water crossing, the image below shows the various size/proportionate dimensions of the video available.
Screen Shot 2012-03-15 at 12.38.58.png

As can be seen the 4 sizes of video available are:
560x315
640x360
853x480
1280x720

Again, there are 4 options this video would fit;
420x315
480x360
640x480
960x720

So as people use different capturing devices with differing video dimensions, it would be hard to define a common "norm" for a plugin to adopt without messing some videos about.

Perhaps the facility offered by the bbvideo
bbvideo.gif
button will satisfy more people & allow them to select their optimal video dimensions.

What do you think ?

I think that will be ample and I will experiment with a few sizes..
