which driving license is necessary to ride in Laos?

I have been told that a thai driving license is enough to ride in Laos.
Can anyone confirm that?
Or is an intl. driving license required?
 
A Thai license is fine i have been stopped and produced one with no problem. Dont forget insurance it's cheap and could save from a lot of hassle if you have an incident.

Yes, Have the same experience as Bob - no problem with a Thai driving licence in Laos - I have been in 2 small accident and the Thai driving license was accepted by the Lao police
