Don't think I'm correct, but is that a Matchless V4?

Googled it and it doesn't look similar, but looks similar to a bike sitting in a collection in Vancouver from the 30's that is worth a fortune.

Wild guess Ariel Sq Four ?

Is that Gary on the back :lol3

Damn... I knew that. I'd have said Sunbeam S7... but I see there were other models too.

Just came across this thread. In 1954 we were seated around the kitchen table - teatime, already dark. Loud knock on the back door. "Who the bloody hell's that?" says the old man, getting up. It was a mate of his with his wife. They'd just arrived on a Sunbeam 500 outfit after an 15 month overland trip from London. They went through Burma before it closed it's borders and shipped the bike from Singapore to Fremantle. It was the first bike I ever rode on. For a five year old kid, the noise, the sensation of vibration, power, speed and the rush of wind over the face left an indelible impression. BTW he was 57 years old when he did the trip and he wife was 35. They settled in Bundaberg and then we lost contact.
