The infamous "Last Man Standing" trail

There was talk of the "Chicken" trail, but no mention of the infamous "Last Man Standing" trail when we met at Wat Umong, Jon cleverly tricked us into doing it without us knowing. First mention of those three horrible words was when we were 3/4 of the way up LMS.

Wat Umong (where we met), doesn't have a slopey Wat roof, it's really a bookshop inside a wall, so nearly went passed is staring at the GPS

As you turn off the road to the Chiang Mai Night Safari ( http://www.chiangmainightsafari.com/th/ ... php?page=1) , it immediately becomes dirt trails & quite powdery - Here justin working his way up on his YZF 250

Further up the trail, trying to get Justin's YZF kick started after being flooded, would start so he headed back down.

About a third of the way up, resting at one of the few flat sections

Awesome days riding, great company and lots of fun. One of the best days so far in Chiang Mai.
Well done pounce for completing last man standing with a KLX, stock gearing and dual sport tires! Mucho kudos to you. Unfortunately your weren't last man standing in Spotlight, that was me!

Can't wait for the next time............tick tock

Pounce has a Suzuki DRZ 400 E (440cc kit) back in Perth, Australia & is a decent rider.

I tip my hat to him getting that KLX 250, with road gearing and dual sport tires up last man standing, quite an achievemnet.

With those tires and gearing, the only option on some loose, steep sections was to walk it up, incredibly tiring.

Finally up to a flat section, about 150 meters downhill from the tarmac road & time to chuckle about the horrendous hill climb

One of the nasty sections

You can see we had climbed pretty quickly, here showed 4,200ft

Then lunch in the Hmong village at the top of Doi Suthep

Jonny, Jon & Max, then went off westwards to the Budda's Footprint, Pounce and I headed down the mountain by tarmac, a great days out riding with wonderful company.

That chicken run looks a lot of fun :d

How did you go on this last man standing trail Phil?

Thanks for the pics mr sneds. Ineed awesome day of riding with a great group.

John, Johnny, Max, Phil & Justin.
Thanks for the ride yesterday. I'm sort of ride fit for the West Australian terrain where the highest point you'll ever achieve is 350 metres, not 1400 metres. (going vertical too!)
I had a good ride & as the first Chiang Mai dirt trail, I guess one of the hardest is the best way to start.
Once back home I'll add some pics & video from it.
Johnny, I was asleep around 8pm. The ride, 2 plates of pasta & beers was too much for me.
Thanks again guys.

Thanks for posting the rest of the loop jonny (interesting just 3 WR's left!). For anyone that wants a pretty athletic day out, do this loop.

As promised Phil, here's some pics from the day out.
One face has been obscured as per his request.

I've been saying this for ever, a Mulberry would be the perfect companion on LMS.

I agree but due to limited availability at the time the "chicken run" seemed the best choice for the accessory conscious rider.
