Swiss Chris's Laos tour

We gave Swiss Chris (& his Swiss GF, Jolanda who is here for 4 weeks) some route ideas in Laos. He liked the idea of the 110KM off road route from Hongsa to Luang Prababang on his Yamaha TT600. Being raint season we did warn him that it might be muddy and the rivers could be high if there had been some rain.

The route he did yesterday:

-Excuse the "Mekong River" spelling mistake on the map above
From Chris lat night reaching Luang Prabang:

"thanks for the info! We made it safely to LP.
We stayed the night after Chiang Mai in an empty hut befor Chiang Klang, next day crossed the boarder. Shortly after Hongsa the track was so slippery I just managed to ride up the slopes, Jolanda had to walk. Luckly the condition got better but I hardly ever used third gear. We arrived at sunset in LP. Awesome track, but you dont wanna get caught with rain. Amazing people in the mountains, a pitty we rushed through.

River crossings no problem. Deepest 2.5 feet at that time

Now going to try the sandwiches."

The mud - Chris's GF had to walk several hills

How amazing they are still speaking to you Phil after recommending that route at this time of year !

Nice pics, looking forward to seeing more, if they do continue communicating with you.

Not sure Jolanda (GF) will be after walking all those steep hills, Chris had a blast.

We've given Chris some route ideas from Luang Prabang, looks like he'll head up to the beautiful, romantic town of Nong Khiew, just over 100km NNE of Luang Prabang.

We've shown him the off-road route from Luang Prabang, Phonxai to Phonsavan - He seems pretty interested to give this a shot

Chris and Jolanda are true adventurers and it was a pleasure to have met them at Riders Corner.
Wishing you many more happy Kms guys. :DD

That trip is nice when dry not sure if I would do that (the part from the river crossing to Phonsavan off-road) in the wet with a big bike.
