Suzhou hotels:
1) The Suzhou Garden Hotel
It is a famous and special place with a unique history in Suzhou, the city of gardens.
It was home for Madam Yao Yecheng, Jiang Jieshi's second wife. We know Jiang Jieshi as Chiang Kai-shek.
In the hotel complex there is a bungalow where she lived in the 1930's. Next to that bugalow is a garage with a car that belonged to Chiang Kai-shek and the entrance to a bunker with pictures. Slightly further away is a miniature classic Chinese garden.

2) The Suzhou One Hotel
If you are tired of the typical Chinese hotels, try the One in Suzhou owned by the Landis group from Taiwan.
It is intended for business travellers, each room has a multi media center desk with printer, video player and large LCD TV.
Great bar with kind staff and when it opened in 2006 a GREAT open kitchen, fusing Chinese, Thai and Indian cooking.
Sadly that did not appeal to the Chinese so they closed the open kitchen, still do great food there and my wife did a master class Thai food with their Chef in 2011. I have stayed in this hotel from the opening in 2006 till 2011 at least 10 times.
