Right rear indicator was pretty strong

Got the bike picked up minimal damage and off we went. R 1234 has some great views you can see where the road traverses to over the barrier

Some big renovations going on in Doi Mae Salong

Out the other side of Doi mae Salong and eastwards on R 1234 , lets hope these 2 don't hit each other

Beautiful road - Som off again in the distance about to go into the corner
P1040289.jpg

Coming into mae Sai on R 1, we ran into a huge Thai new year parade

Tachilek market
P1040339.jpg

Back in Mae Sai we stayed at the Yeesun hotel 400 baht, good value
P1040340.jpg

The nice thing about this hotel is that you can bring your motorbike into the lobby at night
P1040343.jpg

Outside the hotel, we were wondering what this lady may have in her pipe!
P1040344.jpg

If you stay at the Yeesun Hotel, Monkey Island bar and restaurant is 20 meters away
P1040346.jpg

Nice open air tables out by the river
P1040345.jpg

Picked up some saddlebags at the motorbike shop for Alex in Tachelek for 1,800 baht, easiest way to get them back to ChiangMai was to put them on of course.
P1040347.jpg

Some lunch at Nam's restaurant "Lab Lung Air" on R 1290 2 km from the border, excellent food
P1040348.jpg

P1040350.jpg

On the way back got caught in a viscous storm, tree s down all along R 118

Got back to Chiang Mai and Som was scurrying around figuring out who will fix her Harley!

Glad to see you and Som out enjoying yourselves on the bikes. Always a nice break from working too hard. Nice to see Som pull it off without too much damage. How was she enjoying those aftermarket pipes on the HD droning up to Mai Sai?

I like your pic of the house with the second story constructed of weaved bamboo.

Glad you're both back in town and OK. Now that Som has "broken her duck" on the Sporty, let's hope that's it!

Nice report & pics too!

Cheers,

Pikey.

Justin - her V&H pipes are deafening , they sound EXACTLY like a Isaan farm tuk tuk, you cannot distinguish the two! She thinks it looks beautiful.

I hate diesel spills and trails ...but it does amaze me that UK is much worse than Thailand for this road menace
