Phil, loads of youtube downloader (sorry to contradict Alex ) some can download a whole playlist, but for single video use this one, you can select what video format and quality you want and don't need to download anything:
KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more!

Good to see they made a 30min vid of the hobby class, it's nice they start to show amateurs as well.
