The route 101, 3012, 4027, 4002, 1091

Total distance 142 km

First stop this morning was at Kawasaki, I was surprised to see them open on this holiday monday but they were so the 6000 km service was done.
An oil and filter change plus the air filter was blown out then I was on my way after being relieved of 420 Baht
One snippet of information, the oil filter they fitted was from a KSR 110 as apparently its the same filter

Its a lovely warm sunny day as I ride the 101 to Wiang Sa then take a right onto the 3012 for a couple of km then its a left onto the 4027

A good road to start with and todays mission is to ride this plus two more asphalt roads that were mapped last trip and then ride some dirt tracks that hopefully will take me across to the 1091

A couple of the short dirt sections along the 4027 have been surfaced but theres still dirt in other places

Back to asphalt for a while
DSCF9667.jpg

These are standing idle today but perhaps this road will get surfaced in its entirety sometime

I have passed the waypoint I put in where I rode to on my last trip here and its new territory for me
DSCF9671.jpg

DSCF9672.jpg

This is brilliant, its the sort of track I was hoping for and the scenery is just amazing

Finally I see some people, as its a holiday I was expecting to see kids out playing but there was a total lack of people as I rode through the villages

Further along I stop in a village for a snack and theres some kids here playing
DSCF9684.jpg

Now on an asphalt section I rode last trip
DSCF9685.jpg

Off it snakes into the hills
DSCF9687.jpg

I reach another waypoint I put in last trip and my gps shows its about 5 km to the asphalt of the 4002 that awaits me after I have rode this dirt track in front of me, again its the first time along here
DSCF9688.jpg

Well I mustnt grumble, the roads okay and no complaints about the scenery either

DSCF9690.jpg

DSCF9691.jpg

I ride through another village and more sign of life here
DSCF9692.jpg

DSCF9693.jpg

DSCF9694.jpg

This track is dustier and a bit steeper in places but no problem
DSCF9695.jpg

DSCF9697.jpg

After 7 km I reach the lovely curves of the 4002 that I have rode before a few times and now know that the loop can be completed

DSCF9700.jpg

I think every worker I saw in the fields today was harvesting corn

DSCF9702.jpg

At the junction with the 1091 theres often this small market here, from here its the 1091 back to Nan after a fun day exploring some new tracks
DSCF9707.jpg

As I am sitting eating at Tonys Place this bird flies in for a closer look
DSCF9706.jpg

It gets closer and apparently often turns up when people are eating
DSCF9703.jpg

Lasagne, onions and garlic bread, I have another portion of lasagne and these cost 175 Baht for the two plus 40 Baht for the garlic bread, 215 Baht and I am stuffed

Hi colin

looks like a nice run - did you put an off road tyre on the bike as the tyre looks bigger than standard in the pictures

Hi Colin, I am glad you completed your 'mission' & sorted out that track. Very nice route indeed and you end the day with some of Areewans delights !

Ally

No Kev, its the original tyre that the bike came with

Ally hopefully theres a few more of these missions that turn out like this one did

The scouting in Nan has begun, you'll be keeping Auke busy with new data for sure Colin, already some new tracks!

A quick map of your loop west of Nan, looking like i'll come meet you next week.
