Some rather brown water in the Mae Chaem river and more then I expected to see.
Also I notice the concrete bridge has collapsed

I stop in Hot to fill up with fuel then ride north along the horrible 108 for about 2 km then take a right to get off that vile road

I cross over the Ping river and see there is no water flowing at all

That's a good route to avoid the 108 into Chiang Mai Colin.

I was on the riverside road last Thursday, the river is so low & in many places it's looking stagnant with pollen / muck floating on the top.

That section of R 108 north of Hot is one of the most tortuous roads in Thailand. Slow, constant road works, traffic lights, bottle necks etc....... Great idea to take that route.
