The Route 108, 3010, 1270

Total Distance 160 km

I head east along the 108 then take a left onto the 3010 to visit the Mae Umlong Luang hot spring

Its a lovely twisty road but the surface badly needs a road sweeper going along it to clean all the loose sand off of it

At N18.12.288 E098.00.622 I take a left onto an unpaved surface to ride to the hot spring

The ice cream man is here waiting for me so I relieve him of one, just what I needed on this hot day
DSCF4991.jpg

I park the bike up here at N18.12.281 E098.00.038 then walk over the river to see the hot spring
DSCF4992.jpg

That bridge is new since I was last here about four or five years ago
DSCF4993.jpg

But as half the suspension bridge is missing this is still the way across the river, the same as before

The hot bath for those who want it

The first hot spring

DSCF5001.jpg

DSCF5002.jpg

76C seems to be the temperature here
DSCF5003.jpg

I ride on along the 3010 and I am trying to remember if it was surfaced this far on the last ride which was on the Phantom and at least three years ago
DSCF5004.jpg

A shame about the loose sand on that lovely surface
DSCF5005.jpg

The surface turns to dirt at N18.12.644 E098.01.721
DSCF5006.jpg

I ride through a completely dried up riverbed here
DSCF5007.jpg

No worries of a fire here, its all been completely burnt already
DSCF5008.jpg

At N18.13.132 E098.02.250 the surface turns to a new concrete road that definitely wasnt here on my last trip
DSCF5009.jpg

This is a nice road
DSCF5010.jpg

DSCF5011.jpg

Fuel is available from the hand pump at N18.13.454 E098.02.879
DSCF5012.jpg

DSCF5013.jpg

The surface returns to dirt at N18.14.591 E098.02.957
DSCF5014.jpg

They certainly chucked up a dust cloud
DSCF5015.jpg

DSCF5016.jpg

The scenery up here is great with much better visibility than I expected
DSCF5017.jpg

That looks like it will be going up in smoke soon
DSCF5018.jpg

Its back to a good paved surface again at N18.16.091 E098.03.159
DSCF5019.jpg

DSCF5020.jpg

I stop at a village and fuel is sold here in bottles at N18.17.026. E098.05.163 and a bit further along from a hand pump at N18.17.067 E098.05.213
DSCF5021.jpg

DSCF5022.jpg

At the end of the village the surface turns to dirt with a vengeance at N18.17.071 E098.05.227

I am really enjoying this ride up here today and after a while it is very windy which keeps the temperature down and hopefully blows all the haze away, perhaps thats why its so clear up here
DSCF5026.jpg

DSCF5027.jpg

DSCF5028.jpg

DSCF5029.jpg

Its very slow going at times as its deep loose bulldust quite often
DSCF5030.jpg

DSCF5031.jpg

DSCF5032.jpg

DSCF5033.jpg

DSCF5034.jpg

I get another piece of a good concrete surface from N18.17.751 E098.08.639
DSCF5035.jpg

As I rode along here I thought the wind was going to blow me over the side, it was really gusty up here.
This lovely surface finishes at the end of the 3010 at N18.18.522 E098.09.150
DSCF5037.jpg

DSCF5038.jpg

I take a right onto a dusty dirt track which will eventually become the 1270
DSCF5039.jpg

Although I have rode along here a couple of times before I have never known it to be such a loose deep sand/bulldust surface, last time it was just bumpy
DSCF5040.jpg

Fuel was available from a handpump at N18.18.062 E098.09.984
DSCF5041.jpg

Cabbages, cabbages and even more cabbages growing along here
DSCF5042.jpg

DSCF5043.jpg

At last the lovely asphalt surface of the 1270 which starts at N18.16.348 E098.10.829 and after stopping to generously lubricate the chain I was off enjoying this road.
Further on was more fuel from handpumps on either side of the road at N18.15.653 E098.10.145
DSCF5044.jpg

Along the 108 back to Mae Sariang I ride through a few of these, not nice at all

The world eagerly awaits your return !!

Looking forward to seeing this route, the pics of those roads make it look a great loop, lots of twisties yet adventure of road too.

Nice

Ally

It was a good one Ally and I would be pissed off to lose the track, Auke is coming out here in the morning to retrieve the track and completely reset the GPS
