Bangkok Airways inaugural flight from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang (Laos) departed on 2nd April and it had a seat with my name on it.

It was a pleasant 65 minute flight through the smoke pollution in a 70 seater ATR 70.

I have ridden to and through LP a few times but have never stayed long enough to have a detailed look around the place.
This time I was to be Teddy the Tourist.

Because this was the inaugural flight a fair bit of fuss was made during the flight and upon arrival.

The meal was an exceptional Pad Thai Goong, gifts were handed out to all of the passengers during the brief flight and the full traditional dancing and music welcome was provided at the airport.

Incidentally, one of the most noticeable things noticed nearing touchdown was the large number of new building being built in the airport area.

After arrival formalities I was off to the the Guest House in the Old Quarters area then book a bike for the next few days.
