Sorry, a bit late but I was just informed by a friend that the Lisu New Year celebrations have started on Sunday. Checked the website of the Soppong River Inn and they also mentioned that the celebrations started on the 22nd and will run for the whole week so if you are quick you may catch part of it with the women in traditional dress with a lot of singing, dancing, etc.

Lisu New Year in Soppong begins on 22 January this year, and the festivities run for a week following. There are several Lisu villages within walking distance and they will all be celebrating with traditional music, dance, food, and drink lasting until early morning each night. This is when the Lisu women dress in their finest tradition clothes and silver, and all are invited (even you) to join the party.
