I took up riding motorbikes two years ago at the age of 63. I cut my teeth on a Honda Varadero 125 which got me OK for a two week bike trip in North Vietnam 6 months later, travelling with my mate who was responsible for introducing me to this new addiction. Since then I've passed my UK big bike licence in June 2014 and in July got BMW G650 GS Sertao which I've ridden to visit me dear old mum in Ireland. On the way back covering around 400miles in one day (won't be repeating that if at all possible).
I feel like I'm on a continuous steep learning curve every day confirming how much I'm learning but becoming more aware of how little I know.
The plan now is to go to Cambodia and get some off-road training there, perhaps buy a bike in Phnom Penh and do a wee bit of touring about.
Hopefully meet up with some people who might be OK to travel with a newbie.
Wish me luck!

:your welcome: to Ride Asia, looking forward to your exploits in Cambodia
