The Sainamhai Resort is 42km east of R 13, situated on R 8 in the small town of Ban Khounkham,

The Resort consist of Lao-Style bungalows 8 twins and 4 double bed rooms with toilet hot and cold showers facilities suited, and a Main Lodge with a big Restaurant

With enduro motorcycle rental available from Mad Monkey Motorcycle rentals, in Thakhek, easy to ride the Ho Chi Menh trail from here on your own, contact midnitemapper on the forum for advice on the HMT, he is without doubt the expert on the region.

They only have new Honda's and at the moment they have 2 CRF 250 (38 USD/day), a Honda CRF 150 (30 UD/day), a Honda Zoomer 115 (25 USD/day) and a Honda Kick 115 (25 USD/day). They might have more bikes (forgot to ask) but these were standing in from of the shop. The owner is German and a mechanic (he is doing all the maintenance himself) and can be reached at dcn66@hotmail.de or at +856-20-59939909 or +856-20-23477799.

The outfit is called Mad Monkey Motorbike. They can also arrange bike tours and arrange Caving expeditions. Coordinates: N17 23.689 E104 48.225





6km to the NW of the
Sainamhai Resort is the Tat Namsanam waterfall which is worth a visit (co-ords: N18.21955 E104.50671)

Looks like a nice spot Phil, as you say great base camp, on my must stop places next time.
 
Well, the Sai Nam Hai resort is not where it is shown on the map but you will find it some 4 km. more to the south at the bank of the Hai river a bit west of Ban Namsanam on the way to the Konglor Cave. It is a nice place, the food is good and the beer is cold but their Wifi is spotty.

Made a quick map and presumed at that zoom level the resort position on the gps map was correct and the river not visible, thanks for pointing out that there were two resorts with the same name in the same village on this GPS map! All corrected now in the post above. I've notified Don about it.
