I hadn't had a look at some places in Samoeng for a few years so arranged to ride there with Derek
on his BMW1150RT, me on my new Rebel 500.

It was smokey and getting warm when I departed.

Our first stop was the incredible Wat Pa Thammachat at

It's a short ride off the main road and well worth a look.
We were greeted by the two guard dogs. A watchman (I think) was sitting nearby.

I like these Buddhas in the jungle setting.
Sure is getting dry in those hills now.

Single quarters for Monks.

We continued towards Samoeng then off to the right to the strawberry farm and restaurant at Phupa.
Always cool and relaxing here and the food is good. Frantic on Sundays though.

Noticed this old photo on the wall "Hard work never killed anyone".
Lugging that cart through the mud and over the rocks would kill me!

Then through Samoeng township and to Wat Seen Tong to admire their somewhat intimidating murals.
It pays to behave.

I had remembered another place near 'Samoeng Resort' that I wanted to check.
This wonderful, massive banyan tree dwarfs Derek's large bike.

They now have a nice looking air-conditioned restaurant there.

And a bottle shop!

The lookout view shows the change in seasons.

Always a pleasant few hours riding around that area.

(there was another site we passed which deserves a look and I'll do that tomorrow,
hopefully in the rain!!)

You also appear to have lovely blue skies in some of those photos Ron
