Somewhere in 1995 I have met a guy at a hotel bar, we had a chat over a beer or two. He worked for a large electronics company and he was stationed by his company at one of the two Technical Universities Holland has. He explained to me that he was working with a team of people on a project to use military satellites for the reception of location signals.
They were developing a car radio that had a display that could lead you to any address within a accuracy range of 100 meters.
I though he was either crazy or drunk or even both, proves how fast such technology develops......

Haven't research this yet but I believe GPS was originally created by/for the CIA.
