Round 1 of the Thailand Endurocross Championship 2013

This year there is no NIM Thai Enduro Championship as it has been overtaken by another federation in Isaan or something like this. So instead this year they started a Thai Endurocross.
The concept is to have a 2 days event, practice and registration on Saturday and race on Sunday. The race is a 2 times 30 min + 2 laps event.

Kritsada with his new 2013 YZF 450 on his way to the win.
Even if it's entitled enduro-cross it is not what one would expect in any other country, a enduro-cross is usually a course with hard obstacles to beat. We could compare the thai enduro-cross to the WORCS series in the US, but without the big jumps.
It's basically a 3-4 km loop mostly motocross style with woops and small jumps, with a few enduro sections: dry riverbed, small logs, mud pit... Nothing is really a challenge to pass, especially because the small supercup bikes ride on the same course.
30 bikes are released at the same time, in a MX way with a gate that drops. It was my first battling from the start experience and you really get sprayed by mud and dirt and rocks! :RO

Starting gate, ED1 ED2 and ED3 starting together.
The dirt in Doi Tao's dried up lake is like nothing I've ridden on before, like a proper MX track with deep sand sections. All I can say is most of the people including me weren't physically prepared for this hard of a race. It was totally exhausting, especially with the over 40 degrees and no shade at all.
Categories were as follow:
ED1 all MX bikes (open)
ED2 all enduro "factory" bikes (open)
ED3 enduro "production" bikes (250 only, no 2 stroke, no F bikes)
ED4 thai made bikes (klx, crf-l)
Then the supercup categories.

ED1 podium

ED2 podium

Ton and myself getting ready for the 2nd race, totally knackered even before the start!

Rider down, chaos...
