Finke Desert Race (Australia) 2015

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi terrain two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community.
The race is held each year on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June. “Finke” as it is commonly known, is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the Northern Territory and has the reputation of being one of the most difficult offroad courses in one of the most remote places in the world. Finke is unique and the most fun you can have with a helmet on!

There are expected to be 600 bike places and 140 car places confirmed.
Got a couple of mates competing and wish could be there again as the Finke Desert Race brilliant event....

Don't know if it's been mentioned before but Lyndon Poskitt is doing the Finke Desert Race this year - but rather than getting his bike shipped down under from the UK, he's ridden it (all the way from the UK) to the start line ........

Some gossip around TOBY PRICE competing in the 2016 Finke Desert Race bike / trophy truck categories like his mate Billy Geddes did the same thing last year (rode/drove in both classes) using a chopper to ferry himself back up to the start line each day, after running the course.

TP is listed under the bike category, but not the cars yet.... I guess we'll know in the next 12 days.

Toby will compete in both the car and bike sections of the event hoping to add to his successes here and around the globe.
Dubbed by the media; the 'Iron man' division, Toby will be attempting to not only win the bike division but also place highly in the car section.....

Toby price rolled ARB truck at the King shock test track today ~ ooppps sh#t just got real....
Last year the early call was "Toby's out stick went thru his boot and foot they carted him off to hospital"... You know what happened after = #1....

Looks like the Geisser /Kings / ARB team will be pulling out all the stops to have the truck ready for the race...
Don't write him of yet boys the truck being fixed and apparently will be scrutineered in the morning... .

TP#87....awesome result... pretty hard act to top... place 2nd. in your first desert race in a car, and win your fifth (record tie for most wins ever with Randall Gregory) FINKE title - on the same day... Toby Price, now plan the Dakar double - just kidding... 'nuff said...

P1 - Toby Price - Day 1 1h53m19s Day 2 1h53m35sec (after 920 odd kilometres of combo bike / truck racing) for a total time of 3h46m55s

Highlights Reel of the 2016 Tatts Finke Desert Race

Bit of friction after the "incident" on the return run from Finke to Alice Springs. Toby comes up on the OBR truck in some clean air... gives him a light "I'm here " lovetap on the spare tyre carrier as they come into some choppy stuff...
TP gets a better drive across the lumpy bits and pulls up alongside on the right hand side. Beau tries to "rabbit" and pulls slightly ahead, but gets out of the throttle in the next set of rollers,
Toby keeps the foot in it; doubles a couple of lumps (lifts a bit of OBR's RHR fiberglass in the process - but it was barely a kiss) and subsequently disappears down the track... watch the trophy presentation below ~ funny comments and pi**taking...

I'd love to see Toby go and spend some time with the Geiser team or any one of the top US Trophy Truck outfits, at races like SCORE Laughlin, the MINT 400 at Vegas or the The Parker 425 in the BiTD series...
Everyone knows of the Baja 500 and 1000 in Australia, but those US teams really know how to make their trucks sing in fast whoops, and they rehearse the US domestic courses like the back of their hands...
TP#87, with some seat time and experience under him, to learn that 100% attack driving style, with Lowrance pre-run GPS and notes the co-dawg reading off to him... then you would see TP make some sparks fly..... 'nuff said...
