Ron 2Wheels is a prolific web searcher and came up with a thread over at Kawasaki Forums regarding a similar issue to the one I recently experienced with the Versys when the fan gave up on me because of a stone getting lodged in the propeller.
A rider over at Kawasaki Forums reported a build up of muck in his fan which caused a similar result. In that thread they suggest fitting an extension to the rear end of the front fender (mud guard for other Brits) to reduce the splash up from the road.

Seems like a novel idea although I don't think I will be buying one :RE
