Back in the early 90s I was on a rental bike somewhere near Ayuttaya.
Parked the bike in a designated area and before I could extract the keys a %@*&%# monkey had done that task for me!
The creature scampered up the nearest tree with my keys and no amount of coaxing would get it down.
Eventually a nice, kind man arrived and spoke ever so nicely to the monkey, who descended the tree with my keys and handed them to the nice man.
"200 baht", the nice man demanded.
What choice did I have?
I later learnt that this was/is a common scam throughout Thailand.
