Forget the happy snaps. I have a mate who is a photographer here in Chiang Mai. He puts a lot of thought into his shoots so you get more than just a run of the mill pic. Here's some he's done of me as an example:

His strongest point is that he picks unusual locations and takes a lot of time getting the lighting right to get the best shot.

This guy is incredibly talented, he did this for us the other day, look how he's controlled the exposure using dusk lighting, pretty cool.
