Hi Gents,
I'm coming in to KL in a few weeks.
Can anyone help with what I need for compulsory 3rd party insurance?
I have international comprehensive insurance but am not quite familiar with what's required in Malaysia?
Any help here would be great!
Thanks in anticipation...

Where are you coming from ? And how will you be traveling ?

Do you mean you are riding through the southern borders on a Thai bike ?

Coming from Australia, flying the bike in...
Trying to do the right thing here and get my ducks in a row...
Surely it can't be this hard to get info???

Ok .. This can be a little tricky.

If you check the calculator link and start by calling those companies, but I fear the standard reply will be that those companies only deal with Malaysian bikes ( even tho' Kurnia have 'offices' at the border)

I use Kurnia insurance, I buy my insurance as I enter at the Malay border 700-800THB per month ( there is a 3 month option too )

You will also need an ICP which is available at the Malaysian JPJ ( road transport office ) in order to get this permit you will need first need insurance.

Please try the links on the calculator and if you end up at a dead end, please PM me. I have a number of a Kurnia regional agent who is used to dealing with foreign bikes somewhere.

I found an old policy, which has the number of a local office of Kurnia on the Thai/Malay border ..

If you draw a blank with the main offices then try the agent, I can't guarantee they speak English tho'
