Last minute discussion over some beers we decided to take a ride around Chiang Saen with Craig and his girlfriend who had stopped by from Chaing Mai and since the temperatures had taken a welcome dip i couldn't think of a better place to ride.
GPX file at the foot of the post.
Passing Nong Luang, choked up with water hyacinths as usual.
Rice harvesters everywhere at the moment.
Awesome skies as we head to the 4018
Climbing up to the viewpoint.
Steves AT, DCT making short work of the corners.
Craigs girlfriend had a very nice BMW 310 and had no trouble keeping the pace.
Was hoping this area would now be nicely turfed for an upcoming camping trip.
A crisp clear day.
This development is a bit of a mystery, a lot of money has been poured into making this some sort of stopover attraction, with toilets and showers but its never been open.
Admiring the views.
Leaving the viewing area a smattering of pine needles indicating our elevation.
Some truly breathtaking views around here.
Craig on his immaculate Ducati Supersport was wishing he was on another bike.
The drop down to the fun section.
The BMW taking the lead for a while.
The big dipper in all its finest.
Mekong viewpoint for relax.
Steve's well set up AT, DCT.
Chaing Khong, not a tourist to be seen.
First time for me on the now fully paved 1129, bloody fantastic, like a race track.
Sadly not many pictures was too busy having fun.
Yet more development in the casino area on the Laos side.
The golden triangle site getting a spruce up ready for high season.
The RA shirts turned out well
The mountain view resort and its famous concrete ship.
Last stop before heading back to Chaing Rai at the Wat Muen Buddha.
A great days riding enjoying the cool temperatures, lets hope it remains this way for a while.
