Aftermarket horn or airhorn in Thailand.

I had a cheap little aftermarket horn on my CBR250 for the last year or so, but it's finally given up the ghost and died. Was one of these cheap 250b things from a Chinese copy shop.

So I'm looking for another aftermarket horn.

But a good one.

An airhorn could be good as we have an air compressor here, so easy to fill.

But a normal loud as fuck aftermarket horn would be just as good for me.

Any recommendations?

I would rather buy online through a facebook page or shop website and have them EMS it to my house in BKK.

Any knowledge/experience/recommendations?

Thanks.

I have only bought horns in Chiang Mai, but auto parts shops are probably your best bet.

Fiamm makes a dual horn set - high and low tone. Genuine ones are about 700 baht, copies start at 300 baht.

Air horns usually have a small blower attached, so I am not sure why you mention an air compressor.

I brought this one over, but you might find it in BKK - http://www.amazon.com/Stebel-Nautil...&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=stieibel+nautilus+horn

It is LOUD. Fairly small, but it must be mounted vertically.

Loud horns will need a relay, and might exceed the power output of a small battery.

If you can find one , i recoment the original Horn from a old 6V System VW beatle .

Its old , its big , its heavy and on 12 V it pulls about 11 A if i remember correct .

But its very LOUD and has the most ugly terrifying Sound a Horn ever made.
The type that make Dogs running like hell with their tails between the legs and people on the road jump in the ditch.

I still regret that i don't keep it as i sell my Car in Germany .

FWIW...
My experience with Fiamm and their copies:

Years ago I bought a pair of Fiamm horns for my dirt bike.
The lasted 6-months, dying after the first rainstorm I encountered.
Then I bought a pair of Fiamm copies and had a similar problem.
Lesson learned on my next set of Fiamm copies:
I mounted them up-side down and rotated them so the front of the
horn faced downward (see pix), avoiding water from entering and
shorting out the horn's mechanism.
I've now had sets of Fiamm copies on both my dirt and road bike
for over 4-years w/o any problem...so far ;-).

Often I found pairs if Fiamm or copies packaged with both
horns being high tones. High tones sounds don't carry as far as low
tones, but having a pair with both high & low tones is _far_ more
effective than a pair of high tone horns!! Yes, they are LOUD.
Look for a package with one high and one low tone
horn...or see if the seller will allow you to mix from another set.

Fiamm copies come complete with a relay and mounting
straps (the latter are no good and will break from vibrations).
You will need to buy wire and a 20-A fuse.
Retailer have the copies for about 300+Bt, but I've found
weekend Thai market sell them for about 185-Bt.

Stebel nautilus.. If you can make room for it..

Can get chinese copies locally but expect to replace them annually. I managed to get a kind of mini powered airhorn hidden on my DRZ thats about the size of a packet of cigs..
