Chiang Mai, Thailand – On a festive Sunday morning, 19th February 2012, hundreds of riders on motorcycles of all types and sizes, laden with toys, games and stuffed animals, will parade through Chiang Mai and then create a massive pile of toys to be given to boys, girls and babies in need. Following the ride to the X-Centre Xorb Ball field, the charity party kicks off with bands for kids, rock ‘n’ blues for adults, clowns, magicians, games and prizes for the kids, food from local vendors, awards for best decorated bikes and, the highlight of the event; the toy giveaway to the children!

All motorcyclists are invited to join the event whether their bikes are large or small. And there’s no admission charge: just bring along a new toy to warm a needy child’s heart.

• Motorcycles of all sizes and riders of all ages welcome!

• 9:45AM Meet at Tesco Lotus Khamtien for the ride/parade through Chiang Mai. (click here to View Map)

• The ride is followed by the party at X-Centre near Mae Rim with music, games, food and toy giveaway.

• Admission/donation: one new toy and a great big smile!

The big event is tomorrow and we hope to see you all there as this is our main fundraising event for the year and the success of this ride determines how much we can help these disadvantaged children throughout the upcoming year.

Another very successful annual Chiang Mai Toy Ride today, starting from the Tesco Lotus on R11/ Superhighway


From this (all riders are encouraged to bring a soft toy on their bike to the event)

To this in 5 minutes. Last year there were 275 bikes, must have been around the same this year

Lots of bike clubs attended

The sun was now pretty high in the sky, so a pretty hot day, but everyone was having a great time

The Chiang Mai Toy Ride committee ladies did an EXCELLENT job of keeping everything organized, everything ran without a hitch

The police escort officers (right) hung around to help with the departures later on

Dave, the owner of Duke's restaurant in Chiang Mai put on some awesome food as usual

There were so many bikes, the place was full, around 50 had to park up on the hill

The live band was excellent

John Nash, kindly donates all the amplifying equipment for this event every year, he said pointing - "And I have all my Thai immigration permits here if anyone wants to see them" (he wasn't joking!)

A great day was had by all (children and riders)

The can-am 3 wheeler got a lot of attention

Back to what this event is all about, the magician was a huge hit with the kids

A surprise was the Thai movie-star "Anan" being at the event, all the ladies wanted their photo with him

All the kids had a fantastic day, a very well run event for a wonderful cause

The above is Nang's pic of the 121 coming over the Ping westbound. Sadly I was waiting at the Mahidol x Ping bridge awaiting the convoy to pass below the bridge on the riverside road as per the map !! Weaat of the river & not east of it.

Oh well!

Looking at this stuff just makes me realise I've gotta give up on this work thing and get back to Chiang Mai. Great to see such a big turnout - looks like fun was had by all! Except perhaps by the Harley ( http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7178/6901 ... 52b9_b.jpg ) which seems to be getting a bit of "doggy" from this pic.
If there's another toy-ride around July, I might make it!!
