3 Brits & 2 Septics ride for Laos PART 2

After leaving Nan we took the fantastic 1080 north towards the Laos border (about 80km north). It's an amazing road with very few cars & some small villages.

Here jason showing some good control

The views are spectacular north of Nan on the 1080

We arrived at the Nan/ Laos border & unfortunately as neither Princess Jason or Welsh Russ's bike's were registered in their names, they were not permitted to leave Thailand by Thai immigration with their bikes as we didn't have the correct power of attorney documents (even though in Chiang Mai, they had guaranteed us we had the correct paperwork), so they headed back towards Phayao and Chiang Mai, Oz has already headed back to Chiang Mai that morning.

So Just Robert & I were headed into Laos

Yes, the Thai Immigration and Customs are becoming more picky and insist on the correct paperwork and evidence that the owner allows the bike to be taken out of the country.

I have just uploaded a sample of a Letter of Authorization which is accepted by Immigration/Customs (at least in Nongkhai and in Chongmek). It is a blank form in Thai language and in my case I brought along a photocopy of the Thai ID card of the owner.

The form has been uploaded in the General Forum - Thailand Border blank crossing forms/documents TM2, TM3 & TM4
